The Veteran’s Memorial was a long time dream of area families who wanted to have a monument that would accommodate names of all veterans and any future veterans buried in Acton Cemetery. That dream became a reality with the dedication of the Veteran’s Memorial on November 11th, 2007. There are currently over 400 names engraved on the memorial.
The benches around the memorial have been placed by families in memory of loved ones. Behind the memorial are 3 flags: the POW MIA flag, the flag of the United States of America, and the Indiana State flag. Each year a flag field is installed around the memorial each Memorial Day and Veteran’s, one flag is placed for each veteran buried at Acton Cemetery.
Names are added to the memorial at no cost to families. Names are engraved yearly, depending on how many names are being added. If you believe there is a name that needs to be added, please contact Lori Kight at (317) 862 5915.
