Q. Can I bury my pet at Acton Cemetery?

A. No, the cemetery is for human remains only.


Q. Does my grave need to be paid for in full to be used?

A. Yes, graves must be paid in full before being used.


Q. Can I put up a headstone before burial?

A. Yes, headstone can be placed any time after the grave has been fully paid for. If it is a double headstone, both graves must be paid for.


Q. If I no longer want my grave at Acton Cemetery, what can I do?

A. The Acton Cemetery will buy back unused, unmarked graves for 50% of the original purchase price. The original deed must be forfeited at that time. You can also choose to sell the grave yourself. A new deed must be made out to the purchaser and a $5 transfer fee paid to The Acton Cemetery at the time of transfer.


Q. What size headstones are allowed?

A. Headstones can be no larger than 42: wide by 36″ deep for a single grave and no more than 84″ wide x 36″ deep for a double grave site. Any reasonable height is allowed.


Q. Can I place a bench/ large decoration at a grave?

A. Benches are allowed but must be placed on a foundation. Please contact Lori Kight at (317) 862 5915 for approval. See Policies and Procedures for more details.


Q. There is a problem with my/ a loved one’s grave site. What should I do?
